I called HSBC to get a copy of the lien release for our motorcycle (paid off in 2012).Understandably, we were not in their active computer records.

I was given information on what to fax to the lien release department, as well as a fax number. I faxed all relevant information, and did not hear anything for 2 weeks. I called again and was transferred twice before being told the department was closed and to try another number (supposedly a direct line) the next day. I called that number and got a recording giving me the same fax (or US Mail) information, and that it would take 7-10 business days to hear back.

No option to speak to a representative, no matter what buttons I pushed. Since it had been 10 business days, I tried the main number again.

I was transferred twice and put on hold for an extended period, only to be told that there is no way to talk with anyone in the lien release department, only through fax or US Mail requests for lien releases and wait for their response.What ***!

Reason of review: Poor customer service.
